Baume & Mercier – Capeland Passione Engadina Rally Edition

Baume & MercierCapeland Passione Engadina Rally Chronograph Limited Edition

Baume & Mercier celebrates the new generation
 at the "Passione Engadina" rally

This fifth edition of the exceptional vintage car rally, Passione Engadina, has just taken place, from August 19th to 21st, in St. Moritz, Switzerland. This was the third time that Baume & Mercier joined the event, and this time as the principal sponsor. This rally is distinctive for its passion and heritage, since a number of the teams are father/son and father/daughter duos. The nine "juniors" participating in the event all received a model from the Classima collection, specially designed by Baume & Mercier for the up-and-coming young generation.

The fifth edition of the gentleman's rally of St. Moritz, Passione Engadina, focusing on Alfa Romeo, was held from August 19th to 21st. Only Italian collectors' cars manufactured before 1980 were admitted. The rally teams – of which many were father/son or father/daughter duos or otherwise members of the same family – set off in search of a unique driving experience. The bywords of this event were energy, team spirit, elegance, style, heritage, passion and tradition. Noble notions that matter just as much to Baume & Mercier. "As a traditional luxury company, these values are essential for us, too. For 186 years, we have been perpetuating our founders' convictions," explains Alain Zimmermann, CEO of Baume & Mercier. Loyal to its motto, "Life is about moments", the brand got involved in the event for the third time this year to offer the participants unforgettable experiences.

The winning teams in each of the five categories (cars manufactured before 1945; from 1946 to 1960; from 1961 to 1970; from 1971 to 1980; and sportscars) were given generous awards. Each driver received a Capeland Flyback Passione Engadina, while each co-driver was awarded an elegant Baume & Mercier desk clock.

As a supporter and avid follower of the young new generation, Baume & Mercier also wished to present each of the nine "juniors" of this rally with a gift as symbolic as it is appropriate: a Classima bearing the engraving "Passione Engadina" followed by the name of the participant.

A special edition of the Capeland reflecting
the retro charm of the 1950s

In a tribute to this fifth encounter of historic cars, Baume & Mercier designed a limited- edition emblematic watch, the "Capeland Flyback Passione Engadina". "Capeland" is derived from the term "escape", symbolizing the pleasure of embarking on a voyage and the freedom to enjoy the time fully and intensely. Inspired by the vintage 1948 monopush-piece chronograph of the Baume & Mercier museum, the models stands out with its subtle, traditional look, of an elegance that emphasizes the retro charm of the composition.

The historically- inspired design of this exceptional 44 mm watch features a domed matte white dial in a retro style, Arabic numerals, and elegant, blued steel Breguet hands with hollow moon tips, while the red hands of the chronograph add a sporting touch to the timepiece. The watch case in polished/satin-finished steel is also inspired by the aesthetic of the 1950s, and perfectly coordinates with the elegance, classic beauty and timeless allure of the Italian collectors' cars – both sports and luxury automobiles – presented at this exclusive event. The telemeter and tachymeter of this fully loaded watch enable it to measure not only distance but also speed.

In keeping with Baume & Mercier's renown as a watchmaker of extremely precise timepieces, this chronograph also features a self-winding mechanical movement made in Switzerland (La Joux-Perret 8147-2). The Flyback function makes it easy to time a rally. With unparalleled elegance, this timepiece is mounted on a black alligator strap lined with rubber-like red calfskin, finished with a pin buckle and engraved with the Passione Engadina logo. Each of these pieces meets with the brand's exacting standards, and collectors' car aficionados will undoubtedly feel driven to have a look!

Inspired by a 1948 mono-pusher chronograph, this watch was created specially to honor the fifth edition of the legendary Passione Engadina rally in Italy.
The case, in stainless steel, measures 44mm. It has double AR-coated sapphire crystals and it is water resistant to 50 meters.

Movement is the Swiss automatic La Joux-Perret caliber 8147-2 with 25 jewels, 28, 800 vph and a power reserve of 42 hours. It features a flyback chronograph complication.

The dial is white with black Arabics, a blue telemetric scale, a red tachymetric scale and blued Breguet hands. Red hands for the chronograph functions.
It comes on a black alligator leather strap with red rubber lining, red contrast stitching and a steel Ardillon buckle.

BLUE ELEGANCE
WITH A NEW MOVEMENT

At Carl F. Bucherer, Manero stands for the authentic art of watchmaking. It is precisely for this reason that the new caliber CFB A2050, developed in-house, is also making its debut in the Manero line. The new Manero Peripheral Blue combines sophisticated modern engineering with classic watchmaking.

With the presentation of the new Manero Peripheral Blue timepiece, Carl F. Bucherer is consolidating its reputation as an innovative Manufacture brand. It also marks the launch—after several years of innovation work—of the CFB A2000 caliber series, designed and produced entirely in the watchmaker’s own development workshops.

The CFB A2050 movement was specially developed on the basis of the CFB A2000 for the new Manero Peripheral Blue.

In addition to its central hours and minutes hands, the new Manero displays the small seconds at 6 o’clock and the date at 3 o’clock.

Classic Manero

This new watch movement is housed in a classically designed, multifaceted round case. Visual intensity is created by clear edges, soft curves, and contrasting polished and matte surfaces. The Blue dial is a Manero classic: elaborately finished with raised wedge hour-markers. And, as is usual for the Manero series, the time is indicated by faceted lance hands.

Classic Carl F. Bucherer

The classic look is complemented by modern engineering. The automatic movement draws its energy from a double-sided self-winding mechanism with peripheral rotor. A design principle that Carl F. Bucherer was the first to bring into series production with its CFB A1000 movement has thus been adapted for the new CFB A2050 Manufacture caliber, which, with its linear design, is both technically and visually characteristic of the brand.

The Geneva Stripes adorning the movement’s bridges and balance-cocks are a tribute to Swiss watchmaking tradition. An impressive rotation momentum and a power reserve of 55 hours make the new member of the Manero family a reliable and enduring companion for elegant gentlemen.

Available in six versions

The new Manero Peripheral is being launched in six versions: The 40 mm case is offered in rose gold or stainless steel, each with exquisite dials in deep matte blue, black or elegant porcelain white. The fine strap crafted from alligator leather perfectly complements each variant.
