The new blue Terrascope dial animation is a watch that comprises an innovation never seen before at JEANRICHARD – a three-dimensional look to this animated textured dial. The dial has been processed in a special technique – the engraved surface is obtained via a unique manufacturing process whereby a desired shape arises using electrical sparks. The material of the dial is lacquered brass.

In combination with the blue Terrascope in 39 mm and now also newly in 44 mm, these two versatile models are an impeccable pair. Shaped in the signature modern Terrascope silhouette, these watches feature a polished and vertically satin-finished stainless steel case and are equipped with a blue dial with rhodium-coated suspended indexes and a seconds index in red.

The larger model comes with a blue rubber strap that has thin striated bands and the signature JR logo – the 39 mm model is available with a double-sided reversible rubber strap featuring on one side the signature JEANRICHARD look and on the other side the “Rubbergator”. This new timepiece alternatively also comes with an ostrich strap and has like all models, a folding buckle providing extra comfort.

The remaining features of the Terrascope are an icon: The everlasting signature design has an immaculately finished JR60 movement that is self-wound and on the 39 mm model also a sapphire-crystal case back that allows the observation of the inner details and craftsmanship.

The appearance of the Radiomir 1940 is classic, with the large cushion case – 45mm in diameter – of pure minimalist lines, its lugs formed out of the block of the case, a polished bezel and a cylindrical winding crown. But it is in the details that the research and richness of content incorporated in the new watch is revealed.

The case is made of two different types of titanium: the caseband is of grade 2 titanium, a perfect alloy for its lightness (40% lighter than steel), its resistance to corrosion and its potential for being worked with the most complex machining; the bezel and crown, on the other hand, are of grade 5 titanium, an alloy which differs from the previous one in that it can be polished, thus obtaining a sophisticated contrasting finish.

The colour of the titanium is in perfect harmony with the warm tone of the brown dial, made with the characteristic sandwich construction created by Panerai in the 1930s to ensure the maximum visibility and legibility even in conditions of very low light. The special Super-LumiNova® ecru gives the dial a vintage aspect which is perfectly suited to the watch, faithful in design and spirit to the period Panerai models, while completely embodying the technical solutions of today. Also evoking the past of the brand are the characteristic small seconds dial at 9 o’clock, a unique moving element of the minimalist dial.

From the back, through the central sapphire window, the P.4000 calibre can be admired. This is the brand’s first automatic movement with a decentralised oscillating weight, completely designed and made in Panerai’s manufacture in Neuchâtel. The decentralised rotor, much smaller in diameter than the calibre itself, enables the thickness of the movement to be substantially reduced.

The oscillating weight is very small and fitted within the movement instead of superimposed upon it, and the result is a calibre which has all the characteristics of precision, reliability and solidity of Panerai calibres but with a thickness of only 3.95 mm.

The weight is made of tungsten – a material with a particularly high specific weight – and it winds in both directions, enabling it to accumulate a power reserve of three days, thanks to the use of two spring barrels connected in series. The P.4000 calibre also has the device which stops the balance when the winding crown is pulled out, so that the watch can be perfectly synchronised.

The Radiomir 1940 3 Days Automatic Titanio (PAM00619) is water-resistant to 10 bar (equivalent to a depth of about 100 metres) and it is supplied with a brown buffalo leather strap, with contrasting stitching.
