Launched in 1934, two years after the completion of Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Multifort collection shares with this famous structure the distinction of offering a perfect balance between function and aesthetics. A truth that has stood the test of time, as this year Mido celebrates the 80th year of Multifort production, making this one of the longest-produced collections in the history of Swiss watchmaking.

The Multifort Limited Edition Heritage is a rare timepiece. A model of classic, timeless elegance, endowed with technical features that are certain to appeal to fine watchmaking enthusiasts. Its rose PVD-treated steel case houses an automatic chronograph movement with chronometer certification. Much more than a men’s accessory of unquestionable refinement, the Multifort Limited Edition Heritage is a genuine precision instrument. Pushpieces located at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock activate the chronograph functions. The two dedicated counters are positioned at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock. The three blued steel hands of the chronograph display bring an extra touch of finesse to this unique model. A third counter, at 9 o’clock, marks the passing of the seconds, and the aperture at 3 o’clock displays the day and date.

The 44 mm case stands out by its refined shape and resistance. The vertical Côtes de Genève adorning the silver dial subtly evoke the slender forms of Sydney Harbour Bridge, an early 1930s symbol of architectural modernism. For perfect readability, an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, treated on both sides, protects the dial. The transparent case-back enables fine watchmaking enthusiasts to admire the automatic chronometer movement, certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (the official Swiss chronometer testing institute). It is decorated with blued screws, and the oscillating weight is adorned with Côtes de Genève and engraved with the Mido logo. This model is equipped with a brown leather strap and a folding clasp in stainless steel with rose PVD coating. It is water resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 m / 330 ft).

Produced in a limited edition of 999 timepieces, the Multifort Limited Edition Heritage is supplied in a special presentation case. Each watch is numbered on its case back.

CORUM – HERITAGE VINTAGE INGOT

CORUM HERITAGE VINTAGE INGOT NEW

The fascination of gold

In 1977, Corum celebrated the most universal of precious metals by creating a gold ingot watch. Drawing upon its rich history, the House based in La Chaux-de-Fonds pays tribute to this iconic 1970s model through a version featuring a dial graced with 15 grams of 24-carat gold resembling a freshly poured ingot and aptly named Heritage Ingot

Gold has been a perpetual source of fascination since the dawn of time. Noble, precious and radiant, as well as dense and malleable, it gives life to some of the most beautiful handcrafted watch and jewelry creations. The supreme reward in sporting competitions, gold is also an authentic barometer of the international economy. Slumbering in the vaults of the world’s main central banks, it represents a reassuring and tangible value in the face of international upheavals. In 1977, Corum offered a fresh twist on this symbol of prosperity by creating a watch featuring a dial in the shape of a genuine pure gold ingot.

Years have passed, but the appeal of gold remains as powerful as ever.  Corum pays tribute to the historical 1977 model through a new creation with a delightfully vintage touch: the Corum Heritage Ingot watch. Composed of an authentic 15-gram ingot in 3N 24K yellow gold, the dial is engraved with the inscription 999.9 – standing for the highest degree of purity (known as fineness) for this precious metal – along with its weight and the Corum signature. A hole drilled at the center accommodates the blackened steel hands modeled after the original model. The circumference of the 27 x 36 ingot-dial is finely beaded, while discreet hour-markers stand out against the inner bezel ring so as not to spoil the pure aesthetic.

This precious ingot, of which the authenticity is confirmed by an official certificate, is beautifully framed by an elegant rectangular case in 3N 18K yellow gold with delicately fluted sides echoed on the crown bearing the famous Corum key. Concealed from sight by a finely striated solid caseback in 3N 18K gold, the automatic CO 082 caliber beats with Swiss-level precision at the rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour.

Like the ingot-dial, this refined mechanism opts for a pure, restrained approach that involves showing only the essentials – namely the hours and minutes – and has a 42-hour power reserve. A distinguished black crocodile leather strap fitted with an engraved pin buckle sets the perfect finishing touch to this precious golden composition.
